“I trust my gut. I trust my process and that’s what has got me where I am today,” confides visual artist Stephanie Nnamani.
Nnamani is an artist in every sense of the word. She’s a photographer and graphic designer but she’s also an essayist, poet and art director and has worked with institutions like Getty Images and Ava DuVernay’s Array collective. “I went to art school, but I dropped out after a few weeks. I felt I had got what I needed from being there. It taught me not to limit myself to one medium. I appreciated that and I knew it’s what I came to get. Then I studied psychology and communications - so very different from my focus now - but it contributes to my process in every way.”
