Toka Hlongwane worked as a photojournalist to develop a deeper appreciation for human narratives that are often muted or unnoticed in society, he immersed himself in taking pictures in order to bring these stories to life. Working as a full-time street and documentary photographer, he has exhibited his work in South African galleries like Gallery One11, Keyes Art Mile, Slave Church Museum and Mini Auto Atlantic, as well as Millepiani in Rome, Italy. Hlongwane also works as a television director and producer. He also writes - contributing to UK-based publication People’s Stories Project.
