director at radicalmedia

After living in LA for a year, director Mollie Mills says she’s just had “that click moment” where the city is starting to feel like home. It’s a big change from Hackney where Mills grew up, in between touring with early 1990s acid rave club Whirl-Y-Gig – which her family ran. “I was surrounded by a lot of characters, from the slightly grittier hustle-focused reality of the estate, to the anti-capitalist psychedelic hippies,” she explains. “So I was in an environment where I had to adapt, and learn how to be with lots of different types of people, which I’m grateful for. That’s continued into my adult life – I’m really interested in people and what they have to say.”
