The Revolution of Love - Janelle Monae
What is your definition of love? ask director Emma Westenberg to artist, Janelle Monae in The Revolution of Love.
Westenberg is the Dutch-via-LA director with Partizan making waves with her confident mix of classic visual tropes, fashion and fine art influences, subtly integrated to create her unique, distinctly pop aesthetic.
The mini-doc is a portrait of Monae as an unapologetic “queer Black woman in America" using her voice and visibility to make real change. Westenberg follows Monae from her humble Atlanta beginnings into the heart of her creative community Wondaland, where she penned her critically acclaimed Dirty Computer.
This is the second collaboration between Westenberg and Monae, following the viral success of their video Pynk.
