Greetings from Jamaica; hello.
Pitch Super People 2025.
Pitch Super People are inclusive, kind, and champion other people.
Greetings from Jamaica; hello.
“We are super because we are partners in life, and in business.
And that partnership is made all the sweeter because said business is bean-to-bar chocolate making in the heart of Jamaica’s Blue Mountains.
In 2013, we created Mount Pleasant Farm Chocolatiers, a farm to table chocolate, controlling all aspects of the process to guarantee quality and sustainability.
In our cocoa farms, we have Criollo and Trinitario trees, from which we create a unique blend. The cool mountains give our products a fruity, mild, non-acidic taste that’s creamier than most 70% dark chocolate bars.
Also, our beans have grown in the Blue Mountains on the family farm for over a hundred years.”
“I've always viewed myself as a modern-day "Joseph", navigating challenges to significantly contribute to children's holistic development in education. With over a decade of experience, my faith-guided achievements are a source of immense pride.
I am a Lecturer at Mico University College and previously the Grade 5 Team Leader at Morant Bay Primary School, where my team consistently earned Team of the Year. I pioneered the Parent Evening of Sports and trained 4-H students to achieve championship titles.
Being named 2022 LASCO Teacher of The Year was a tremendous honour. I conducted professional development for the Jamaica Teaching Council (JTC) and mentored in the HEART/NSTA Trust National Mentorship program.
During COVID-19, I volunteered and recorded math lessons for the nations’ children and provided face-to-face instruction in the Church Corner and Bamboo River communities for students (Grades 1-10), from various schools, who lacked online access.
My influence extends beyond academics. I was featured in The Gleaner and on TVJ's Smile Jamaica for my culinary expertise. I have developed new food products, received an award for healthy meals, and hosted Jody Brown’s Boys Symposiums for at-risk youths in Saint Thomas and Portland.
At Mico University College, I initiated the first FACS Magazine and worked with students to get their products and dishes featured in local newspapers for various holiday publications. You can also find some of my culinary work on my YouTube channel, Devanjo's Kitchen.”
Jody Brown’s Pitch Super Person is Devmarie Blake Brown, Vice Principal, Morant Bay Primary School, Saint Thomas, Jamaica.
“Devmarie Blake Brown is a super person who often volunteers her time teaching students who need extra support to pass their CXC English. Devmarie has been featured in The Gleaner for her outstanding contributions to education in her parish.”
“I am super because I am driven by my imagination and my passion to see other creatives succeed.
While I try to grow my career as a filmmaker, I am supporting with the building of the film and animation industries in Jamaica for other creatives to thrive.
I share knowledge freely.
I have won several awards for my films, animations, and writings, and I was awarded the Silver Musgrave Award for my selfless contribution to the arts.
Outside of my work, I give several talks at high schools and mentor many youths interested in pursuing film and animation.
This is the mission and purpose the almighty has given me.”
Kevin Jackson’s Pitch Super Person is David Martin, Founder of SchoolToonz.
“David Martin is well known in the animation and animation education space in Jamaica, Antigua, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Founder of SchoolToonz, David is an award-winning TVET, CAPE instructor, and Learning Experience Designer (LXD).
He suffered two strokes in the past five years, but this has not stopped him. While still recovering and going through physiotherapy, David is still writing books and creating animations for kids with his students’ help and using AI.
David is truly an inspiration and a super person.”
“I care about the people.
My creativity is from the Most High because all things are from the Most High, Rastafari, and the people also.
Seeing the struggles of the people, the persecution from the system, seeing the child in the street hungry, suffering, no home, no shoes, no parents, seeing the single mothers, seeing the struggling fathers trying every day to get a way out of the system, and it seems as if there is no possibility.
These are the things that inspires me to write songs to encourage the people to keep going, pushing for what you want.”
I love Jamaica.
Jamaica, Jamaica, Jamaica land of my birth.
We are here to collaborate, share the creative industries and the opportunities available within it.
Time, to create our new futures.
We are in a knowledge-sharing evolution, creating a new world.
Best wishes,
