Ashley Samuels-McKenzie is an independent creative with over 10 years’ experience, having Co-founded Unity & Motion, a video production company that produced content for global brands. His work blends emotional depth, visual precision, and a signature storytelling rooted in curiosity and human truth.
Ashley is the Co-host of How I Became, a podcast that uncovers the real journeys of leaders and culture-shapers. Blending intimate conversation and narrative voiceovers, the show reveals the internal shifts, defining moments, and quiet transformations that shape a person’s path.
In 2022, Ashley joined In Music In Media as media and social value lead. This social enterprise supports marginalised youth who have been excluded from mainstream school through hands-on training in music, film, and digital media. IMIM helps young people build confidence, develop portfolios, re-engage with education, and access real creative industry pathways.
Jamaican-heritage Ashley launched Coconut Paradise in 2024, a Caribbean community café turned cultural hub. It hosted creative events, intergenerational workshops, free meal programmes, and artistic showcases. Now evolving into pop-ups and festivals, Coconut Paradise continues to celebrate heritage, belonging, and community storytelling.
Across all his work, Ashley is focused on elevating unheard voices and using creativity as a vehicle for cultural change and community transformation.
