Sunset in Negril.

Travel.

We will start the day before dawn with a stroll along the white sands of Seven Mile Beach in Negril, as the gentle breeze wraps around us and the Caribbean Sea glistens at our feet.

Afterwards, we will settle in for a traditional Jamaican breakfast, sharing fresh fruit, fried dumplings, ackee and saltfish, callaloo, and strong Jamaican coffee before heading out together to a local primary school.

We will spend the morning with the children, listening to their stories, poems, dreams, and hopes for the future.

We will share insights into the creative industries and the opportunities they offer, encouraging the next generation to dream beyond what they can immediately see.

We will play games, laugh together in the schoolyard, share school supplies and gifts, and spend time planning the future we hope to help build.

For lunch, we will support a Jamaican-owned and operated restaurant from Misti Memphis’s JOAO recommended list, celebrating the local businesses and people who keep Negril’s spirit alive.

We will make our way to a nearby waterfall to spend the afternoon surrounded by nature, stopping for conversations with locals as we buy jelly coconuts, sugarcane, and other island treats.

While listening to Bob Marley & The Wailers’ “Redemption Song,” we will share our stories and speak honestly about the futures we hope to create for ourselves, our communities, and the generations yet to come.

Returning to our nest, we will rest for a little while before heading to dinner, watching the sunset slowly disappear into the sea and leaving us with calmness.

For those who still want more before the day is done, we will spend time together at a local bar and dance barefoot beneath the warm Negril night sky as the music carries on into the early hours.
