Kingston Creative Artwalk

After a relaxing time at the pool and enjoying a traditional Jamaican breakfast at our Kingston nest, we will head to a local primary school.

We will spend the morning with the children, listening to their stories, poems, dreams, and hopes for the future.

We will share insights into the creative industries and the opportunities they offer, encouraging the next generation to dream beyond what they can immediately see.

We will play games, laugh in the schoolyard, share school supplies and gifts, and spend time together planning for the future.

Afterwards, we will spend some time at Coronation Market, Jamaica’s largest open-air market, where farmers, traders, and entrepreneurs from across the island come together each day.

We will stroll through the bustling market, meeting vendors, learning about local produce, tasting seasonal fruits, and hearing the stories of the hardworking people whose efforts help feed the nation.

Taking in the colours, sounds, aromas, and energy of the market, we will experience another side of Kingston and gain a deeper appreciation for the people who keep Jamaica moving.

Afterwards, we will have lunch at a Jamaican-owned restaurant by the harbour so we can cool off with the breeze and slow down.

After resting for a while, we will choose from a selection of cultural experiences.

We will have guides who will lead us on an exploration of some of Jamaica’s cultural landmarks, including a tour of Kingston Creative Artwalk, the National Gallery of Jamaica, and Emancipation Park.

As we walk through the city, we will discover why Kingston was designated a UNESCO Creative City of Music, celebrating the birthplace of reggae and the global cultural influence of Jamaican music.

For those who love rummaging through vinyl treasures, there will be a guide to take you on a record shop crawl through the city, uncovering rare finds and hidden stories from Jamaica’s rich musical heritage.

Others may wish to spend more time exploring galleries, murals, architecture, and the creative spaces that continue to shape Kingston’s cultural identity.

Later, we will meet back at Devon House for ice cream and conversations on the green beneath the trees before heading back to our nest for a late-afternoon nap.

After dinner, we will attend a screening of some of Jamaica’s latest films and spend time with members of our creative community.

Followed by dancing at a local venue, surrounded by laughter and the spirit of conscious reggae music, we will lose ourselves for a few hours in the rhythm of Kingston’s living culture, where music is not simply entertainment but storytelling, resistance, healing, and freedom.

As our heads rest softly on our pillows, we will drift off to sleep beneath Kingston’s night sky, accompanied by the hum of a city that continues to inspire the world.
